I finished a new zine called What I Wouldn't Give To Tell You. It's an experimental narrative comic about what I would (or would not?) ask people who are lost from my life, but not necessarily gone.
For a long time, I've felt embarrassed about being a nostalgic person. A lot of people understandably question the use of spending too much mental energy on the past. I think that there’s a limit to how fruitful it can be to think about memories, but I don’t believe revisiting the past is always a useless effort. Creating this zine was a cathartic exercise in envisioning different outcomes for previous friendships and revisiting thoughts that used to haunt me, but no longer have as much power as they once did. I wonder if you relate to the zine or to being nostalgic in general - I'd love to know if you do.
Here is a peek at my process sketches:
Shooting my Shot *swish*
Beginning in October, I'll be available for some freelance assignments. If you'd like to hire me, here's a snapshot of some things I'd love to do:
Illustrations for stories, digital or print
Web comics on daily life, topics local to Philly, identity, etc.
Small to medium scale murals
There's more, but those are on my wishlist!
Unfortunately, I'm not currently taking on personal portrait commissions.
Hope you have the best, almost-fall weekend!
xoxo
